Classic My House

Okay we don't normally walk around in costumes, but there are always lots of things going on in all different directions! Joy School today was at my house and we had some Halloween festivities. My goal is to make it so that by the time Halloween is actually here the kids are so sick of celebrating it, they don't even want to put on their costumes one. more. time! Well, we mixed it up a bit and put the make up on Presley today. She was in HEAVEN!

Check out Charlie begging to get out, classic Charlie.
Those teeth make me laugh!

Trying on Noah's Star Wars mask, then being coy.

Mmm, non home-made cookies. Classic my house.

Here is the Joy School group minus one. We have a knight, a vampire, a jack o lantern, and a monkey.

Friends in Town

I love having friends come to Boston. Luckily a lot of people have to travel here for work and we get lucky enough to see them while they are here. Nate and Catharine were in town last week. The kids and I got to spend out days with Catharine and the girls while Nate was at the daily grind. We did so much fun stuff it was sad to see them leave. Here are some photos from the pumpkin patch we went to:

I couldn't get enough of little Elizabeth. So much spunk and such an adventurer. Reminded me so much of Noah as a two year old.

Cute Claire was a built in best friend for Presley

On the wagon ride pointing out pretty leaves

Catharine and Elizabeth, so pretty!

Then we had to unwind!

The Biz

I haven't been updating around here too much. If you're wondering what the heck I have been doing with my time, (besides hanging with college buddies, carving pumpkins, spending as much time at the park with kids as possible, and snuggling on the couch with Josh) check out my photo blog. Boston is gorgeous in the fall. I'm loving it! {It's also tons of fun to work with all these cute families.}

quick before I forget

Ever since being weaned from nursing, this has been Charlie's thing:

He loves to walk around with a sippy cup and a big old box of something. It's usually this or Cheerios. I don't know what it is, maybe an independence thing, but he loves to reach his little chubby fingers down into those boxes he can barely carry. Keeps him occupied for a FEW minutes while I get dinner going.

He also knows to smile for the camera! This is his best cheesy grin. Love those little teeth! He had his 15 month check up and weighs just over 27 pounds. My little stud muffin. He got three shots and blood drawn and didn't cry at all. Insane!

So the latest on PK is that she got bit by a tick! I thought it was just a mosquito bite, but it formed a red ring around the bite and turned out to be Lyme disease!! We caught it earliy enough that the antibiotics have almost completely gotten rid of it, but a little nerve racking. Mean old ticks going after my baby! It turns out she must have gotten the tick when we were apple picking. If you ever see a red ring around one of your kids' bug bites, go straight to the doc.

When Presley can't decide which barrette to wear, she just wears all three. Problem solved! So this is our schedule for documenting purposes. Our lives have been so much better since this:
  • 3 pm pick Noah up and go to the park
  • 4 pm head home and do homework
  • 5 pm start dinner
  • 5:30 pm Ruff Ruffman (very important)
  • 6 pm serve dinner
  • 6:15 pm kids clear off table, wipe down and sweep and mom and dad do dishes
  • 6:45 pm jammies, teeth brushed, stories
  • 7:30 pm Noah & PK sleep
  • 7:45 pm Charlie sleep
  • 8 pm mom and dad party like it's 1999!
I think one of the best things about this list is having dinner at a set time. I don't know why I didn't start that before. I just always wanted to be flexible with Josh's work/school schedule. Now we just save Josh a plate if he can't make it by 6. Sooo mch better for the kids.

Fall Gratitude

Sorry, for the photo overload! I snatched some shots of Charlie's personality in these and couldn't limit them to just one or two!

Charlie loves trying to be a big kid at the playground. He is still growing way too fast. We are all done with nursing. No bottles, pacifiers, nada! As a mom I feel like life is slowly getting less chaotic.

I just love that little face! This lady rolled down her car window in the parking lot at the store the other day and said, "he's so cute, you are soooo lucky!" She's right! I need to remember that more.

Since starting first grade, Noah has been coming home with homework. I overheard a parent at Back to School boasting of his child's love for homework. For Noah it's not so much the dislike of homework, but it's the dislike of getting away from other things he'd rather be doing. He works hard, though and I am so proud:). We have a totally new schedule in our house and it has been awesome. There is a set time for homework, chores, dinner, etc and life with three kids has never been better! Why didn't we think of this sooner??

grandpa's in town!

We were lucky enough to get some visitors this weekend. Josh's Grandpa and his wife, Judy rolled into town in their RV! It was so great to see them. If you don't believe that an RV came through the narrow streets of Cambridge, here is picture proof:

We got to show them around Harvard and eat some East Coast Seafood. Then we came back to our house and I basically showered them with sugar with brownies, ice cream and hot chocolate, while Josh built a fire in our fireplace. It was a great weekend.

so many pretty fall backdrops in town.
Here's my cute guy being a beaming grandson:):
