kids+art

If you ever want the chance to have to be on your "a-game" as a mom for a little over an hour, take your small children with some of their good buddies to an art museum loaded with fragile and precious historical works of art! Some friends and I took our kids to the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard yesterday morning.

It was a lot of fun once we figured out how to keep our little ones entertained in there. We were sure on our toes as the museum docents hovered over us and constantly notified us of our dangerous proximity to the showcase glass! We got the kids excited by pointing out depictions of injured soldiers, playing "I spy," and matching brochure photos to works in the galleries. The kids got into imagining boat paintings were paintings of ghost pirate ships and every dancer was a princess ballerina.

Our intimidating bunch

Then today I taught Joy School and had the kids mimic a Jackson Pollock painting we saw at the museum. It didn't take long till paint was splashing on my walls, shirt, and face! I should've seen that one coming!!

Yes, Noah IS about to cry in this picture! He gets a little moody sometimes when Joy School is at his house!
We also had a very happy birthday for Josh yesterday. He turned 28. The kids were so into it. PK told Josh happy birthday every free second she could.

28 weeks

I have no full length mirrors in my house! I just realized how relfective my front door was so I snapped a picture of this growing pot belly of mine. I think it looks so fake like I have a pillow in my shirt or something.

Here is my view of my feet! I am actually sucking it in a little. Yes my belly is lop-sided!

Words of a 4 year old

Noah: "That kitchen knife is big. I can't beleive my eyes!"

Noah: "Mom, I get a lot of exercise by climbing on the counter."

Noah: "Can I have a piece of cake?"

Me: "Just a second, I'm fixing dad's dinner."
Noah: "Well, you can be like Papa Johns and do pizza and breadsticks in only 30 minutes!"

Me: "That would be cool, huh?" hee hee

First Purchases

We just started giving our kids little allowances for simple chores around the house. Noah's been collecting change ever since he got a piggy bank a couple of years ago. Yesterday we dumped it out and counted all the loot. He had $35! So I took the kids to good ole Wal-mart and let them pick out some things to buy with their own money. Noah decided not to spend all of his money so he chose a smaller Transformer. Josh was so proud of that! PK chose a little camera and has been taking turns doing photo shoots with me. She loves to tell me what poses to do for the picture. Here are her poses:

She LOVES making silly faces thanks to her dad.

We love friends..and frozen yogurt

We made a new Cambridge discovery yesterday. Berry Line frozen yogurt. It is going to be my hot spot to take friends from out of town now.
